William Thomas “Tommy” Moore
Seaford, Va. – William Thomas “Tommy” Moore, 84, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.
Tommy studied music at Kentucky State University. He sang in many choirs and directed a Men’s Choral group for many years who were like a second family. They spent many weekends camping together as a group where they pranked each other and sang gospel music where other campers would gather around. He loved singing and being a part of the choir at Providence United Methodist Church and shared a special relationship with each member.
He loved to garden and took pride in providing fresh vegetables to family and friends. He had two favorite vacation spots – the Great Smoky Mountains and the Outer Banks. He loved football and kept statistics on Virginia High School and College football games for approximately 40 years. Mostly he enjoyed family get-togethers and cherished the times when we could all be together.
He was preceded in death by his parents Kelsor and Mary Moore and a son and daughter-in-law Adam and Melissa Moore. Tommy is survived by his wife of 57 years Mary and his children, Timothy Moore (Cheryl), Vickie Concilus (Mark), Kathy Marrs (Jimmy), Bill Michel (Fawn) and Trish Elmer (Claude); sisters, Sue Jones and Barbara Cockrell (Charles) a brother Danny Moore (Jakie). He is also survived by his grandchildren, JD, Joey, Heather, Patrick, Alex and Jonathan great grandchildren, Raylan, Sawyer, Tucker, Reese, Elias, Tobias, Hezekiah, Finnias, Jethro, Lily and Luca.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 2:00 PM in Providence United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private in church cemetery. Memorial may be made to Providence United Methodist Church, 113 Old Dare Road, Yorktown, Va., 23692
