A funeral service will be held at Amory Funeral Home in Grafton beginning with visitation at 2:00 pm and service to follow at 2:45 pm on Friday, January 17th. David Johnson will be officiating. Private family burial will follow at Providence Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be sent to The Alzheimer’s Association, Southeastern Virginia Chapter, 6160 Kempsville Circle, Suite 322A, Norfolk, Virginia 23502. This organization was dear to Jim’s heart as his sister suffered with Alzheimer’s for many years.

Visitation and a funeral service will be on Wednesday, January 15, 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., respectively, at Crooks Memorial United Methodist Church in Yorktown, Va. A subsequent graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News, VA.

James Lewis “Jay” Hudgins

A funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Bethel Baptist Church, Yorktown, VA with Pastor Doug Echols officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-2:00pm. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 1004 Yorktown Road, Yorktown, VA 23693. Arrangements are by Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, VA

Amy Kathleen Carl

A celebration of Amy’s life will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, 11 January, at Bethel Manor Chapel (1793 First Street, Hampton, VA 23665). The service will be streamed on Amy’s Facebook page. A reception will follow at The Vanguard in Hampton, VA.
A scholarship in Amy’s name for the Grafton High School Field Hockey Team is being established. Our family would like donations to the scholarship fund instead of flowers. More information on the scholarship will be made available shortly.

Nila Ormand Hansford

A funeral will be held January 10th at 11:00 am at Grafton Christian Church in Grafton, VA, with Rev. Robin Moscati officiating. Interment will be in Grafton Christian Church Cemetery. The church invites all attendees to a reception in the fellowship hall following the service.

A Gathering of Family and Friends for Merle will be held Saturday, January 11th, 2024 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Amory Funeral Home in Yorktown followed by the funeral service starting at 1:00pm. After the service her family will receive friends and family to celebrate her life at her Daughter’s house, 314 Grafton District Rd, Yorktown, VA. 23692. A service to remember Sarah will be held on Wednesday, January 8th at 11:00 am in the Chapel LibertyLive at 1021 Big Bethel Road Hampton, VA. The family invites friend and family to enjoy fellowship with them following the service.
The family would like to give thanks to the angels here on earth through Enhabit Hospice Care and Care Advantage Care Partners for their loving hands and hearts as they provided mom and our family with the most supportive care, they were our Ohana. Specifically, to the most tender care from Tammy, Heather and Lakeisha, your love and tenderness were felt by Moma and us, we will be forever grateful.

Helen Yvonne Norwood

Yvonne will be laid to rest beside her husband at Quantico National Cemetery, a testament to their enduring bond on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 12:30 PM. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 11am at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1677 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg, where she was a member. Arrangements are by Amory Funeral Home in Yorktown.
Yvonne will forever be cherished by her family and friends and her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her. Christ’s loving atonement assures us that she is now at peace and hears the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant … enter into the joy of your lord.” She will be deeply missed.
