

William Mason McCarty, Sr.
Carrollton, Va. – William Mason McCarty Sr., 48, of Carrollton, Virginia, passed away on January 25, 2025 after a brief illness.William was born on October 11, 1976 to Howard & Elizabeth Ann McCarty in Newport News, Virginia. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Amanda Ruth McCarty, his children; William Mason McCarty Jr. (Kaitlyn), Elizabeth McCarty Osborne (Wayne “Connor”), Coral Ann Elaine Baines (Andrew), his grandchildren; Ryleigh, Warren, Eden, his loving parents Howard & Ann McCarty, his twin brother Wesley McCarty (Sarah), along with a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
William graduated from several programs of study which include; Thomas Nelson for Business Management, Church of God’s Chaplaincy program, Lee University for Pastoral Studies/Counseling, Pentecostal Theological Seminary with a Masters in Counseling, Local Elected Official certificate program from Virginia Tech, and was working to obtain his doctorate in ministry at Virginia Bible College.
William started his pastorate as Associate Pastor and Worship Leader at the Tabb Church of God and has spent the last 25 years as Lead Pastor of Healing Waters Worship Center (HWWC). Over the years he served as a member of the VA Church of God State Council, VA State Youth and Discipleship Board, State World Missions Board, State Evangelism and Ministerial Development Board.
William was bi-vocational as a night shift General Manager and Regional Manager in the service industry and C.F.O. of Classic Lanes Inc. in Newport News. He was the Assistant Football Coach at Smithfield High School, a Private Business Consultant, and a Certified Behavior Consultant.
William also served his community with distinction. He was elected onto the Isle of Wight Board of Supervisors in 2016 and had just started his third term, serving on the executive boards of the Hampton Roads Workforce Council, Hampton Roads Planning District Commission, and Western Tidewater Regional Jail Authority. William was an integral part of the Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization starting as an executive board member and most recently the Chairman of the board. He served as part of the Virginia Association of Counties in several capacities including; Regional Director of Region 1, 2nd Vice President, 1st Vice President and President-Elect.
William was a cherished husband, father, Pappy, son, and uncle. He was a shepherd, mentor and friend. He was a natural leader and led with distinction, He embodied what it meant to be a servant as he lead his family, church and community. He wore many hats which allowed him to hold a place in many hearts. He strived to be everyone’s hero and to many he was. He helped to heal the broken, paved a way for many to find hope through Jesus Christ and helped everyone always, even when they didn’t know they needed it. He had a quick wit that met with his mischievousness which always brought a laugh to the room. Every day, the people William came in contact with were made better through his compassion and love.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 2 to 4 pm at Healing Waters Worship Center, located at 12172 Smiths Neck Road, Carrollton, Virginia. A Home Going service will be on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 11 am, at World Outreach Worship Center (WOW), located at 1233 Shields Road, Newport News, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to HWWC’s Outreach Ministries; Manna, Time Out and Life Care
