William Carl Harper, Jr.

William Carl Harper, Jr., of Yorktown, passed away on Monday June 10, 2024 at 81 surrounded by members of his family.
Carl was born in Newport News, Va. on September 23rd 1942 and was a lifelong peninsula resident. He graduated from Hampton High School in 1960. He worked 30 years for the telephone company retiring in 1993. He enjoyed working part time as a delivery driver for the Yorktown Flower Shoppe after his retirement. He enjoyed reading, anything with finance, watching baseball, and traveling the country. Most of all he loved God, his wife, and family with all of his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Martha Harper, brother Donald, and grandson Jacob. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Carolyn Andrews Harper, daughters, Tammy Williams (Tom) and Teresa Sibley (Bobby) and sons Richard Harper (Mary) and Randy Harper as well as his sister Vicky Ellis (Don); 6 grandchildren, Ruth (Ken), Tom (Katie), Amanda (Julian), Alexis (Eric), Cate, and Carol; great grandchildren, Lizzie, Elliana, Philip, Natalie, Adalae, Brooks, Locke, and Hanna.
A memorial service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Yorktown on July 1st 2024 at 2pm. Visitation will be one hour prior. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Mission Dignity program at Bethel Baptist Church 1004 Yorktown Road Yorktown, VA 23693
