William (Billy) Doggett


William (Billy) Doggett, 86, of Grafton, VA, died peacefully on February 9, 2026 in his home surrounded by family.
He is survived by his wife Garnette and his 2 children, Annette Wilhelm (Keith) of Gloucester, VA and William Doggett (Robin) of Williamsburg, VA. 6 grandchildren: Wiley (Becky), GraceAnne, Bailey (Brent), Chisholm (Kelsey), Griffin and Claibron, all who loved their “Pop” dearly. 2 great grandchildren, Ollie and Sadie.

Billy graduated from Lancaster High School in 1958. Billy and Garnette were married in 1962 and moved to Newport News. In 1965 Billy built their current home in Grafton, VA.

Billy was a carpenter and eventually started his own contracting business, Carpenters Unique Inc.

Billy was born in VA but soon after the family moved to Baltimore, MD. They moved back a few years later to Nuttsville, VA where the family owned and operated the general store and Post Office. He was known by most people as “Billy Boy”

Billy was a member and served on the board at World Outreach Worship Center. He loved the Lord and loved to tell others how much the Lord loves you. His final words were praising the Lord. Billy was an ordained Chaplain. He was also a member and served on the board of Zion Sake.

Billy enjoyed traveling the United States in his Van and was able to travel to Europe and the Holy Land with his family to make the Bible come alive in his eyes.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, February 12, at 1:00 pm at World Outreach Worship Center in Newport News. Service will follow at 2:00 and a reception will follow.

Internment will be at Bethel United Methodist Church in Lancaster, VA on Tuesday, February 17, at 11:00 am.
