Watt Daniel (Dan) Burton, Jr.


Yorktown, Va. – Watt Daniel (DAN) Burton, Jr., 78, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022.
Dan was a native of Virginia and graduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He went on to work in that field with Newport News Shipbuilding in a variety of leadership positions over 39 years. He retired in 2006 on the same day as his wife, Lynda. They were inseparable for their beautiful 45 years of marriage. Dan had an amazing sense of humor which carried over in every aspect of his life. His hobbies and passions included boating and working tirelessly on his lawn. He was constantly busy and loved the outdoors. He was a perfectionist, meticulous in everything he did, always had a plan and only thought of others.
Dan was very strong in his Catholic faith and loved his Church and Church Family. Serving as Chair of the Parish Finance Council, Altar Server, Eucharistic Minister and member of the Building Committee along with other responsibilities gave him great joy and purpose. Dan was a member of the parish community of St. Joan of Arc Church for over 38 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Genevieve Davidson and Watt Daniel Burton, Sr. and sister, Theresa Burton. He is survived by his wife Lynda Cornelius Burton and sons Jason and Jeffery, his grandchildren Karagan, Karling and Scotty, and his sister Nancy Williams.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at 10:00 AM in St Joan of Arc Catholic Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at the reception following the mass.
