Terry Wayne Lee


Yorktown, Va. – Terry W. Lee, 69, passed away May 9, 2021, in Riverside Regional Medical Center. He was born and raised in Windsor, Virginia. Terry was the son of late William “Ray” Lee and Elizabeth Beale “Ebbie” Lee and he retired after thirty years from the Virginia Tech Tidewater Agricultural Research and Extension Center (Tidewater AREC). Pastimes included playing golf, enjoying Carolina Beach Music (Shag music) and dancing like no one is watching at Two Left Feet Dance Studio in Kiln Creek along with various other outdoor Beach Music events. Many knew him for his famous move, the “gator”. Terry graduated from Elon University with a Bachelor’s degree in History. He thoroughly enjoyed reading books of the civil war and visiting historic sites. He is survived by his daughter Tracy Lee of Newport News, Virginia; brothers William “Bill” Ray Lee Jr and wife Sharon of Sebring, Florida, and Robert E. Lee and wife Alice of Suffolk Virginia; nephews Jamie Lee and wife Hilary, and Ryan Lee, both of Maine; great uncle to Hunter and Mason Lee of Maine along with many other extended family members. He is also survived by his best friend Kim Downing of Yorktown, Virginia. Family and friends will gather at Amory Funeral Home on Saturday, May 15th at 12:00 to celebrate his life. Lastly, Terry wanted everyone to know he “went down fighting like the Butkus Bear”. Arrangements by Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, Va.
