Susan Zalumas Brewer

Susan Zalumas Brewer, 76, a lifelong resident of York County passed away on May 25th following a brief illness.

She is predeceased by her husband of 58 years James D. Brewer, and parents Jake and Evelyn Zalumas.

She is survived by sisters Barbara Zalumas Eidlin (Dr. Martin) and Betsy Zalumas (Michael Thompson) and beloved friends Allen and Janet Bradshaw.

Susan graduated valedictorian of her class from York High School. She had a successful career with Suntrust Bank and retired from the York County Treasurer’s office. She was an avid reader. Her true passion was service to others. Using that passion for service she joined the Exchange Club, an organization whose core values are family, community and country, with special emphasis on youth. She was one of the first women to hold many of the Virginia District offices and was the first woman to become President of the Virginia District. She also held positions on national committees and was a member of the National Exchange Court of Honor.
