SSgt. Justin Michael McMahon


SSgt Justin Michael McMahon, 41, of Newport News, Virginia, passed away Saturday February 19, 2022.
Justin was a native of Syracuse New York, born on October 12, 1980. He was a 2000 graduate of Gloucester High School in Gloucester, VA. He was a decorated Naval Air Crewman as well as a Search and Rescue swimmer for the United States Navy, in which he served 14 years on Active Duty. He was currently serving in the United States Air Force, as a reservist with the 71st Aerial Port Squadron, Joint Base Langley-Eustis. Justin was currently serving as the Non Commissioned Officer In Charge of the Fleet section supervising and mentoring numerous junior Airmen. He was currently working in the 633rd contracting unit at Joint Base Langley-Eustis. During his time serving active duty with the United States Navy, Justin worked his way through the ranks achieving the rank of Staff Sargent while also earning Lean Six Sigma. Justin was an accomplished instructor and trainer who flew over 3000 hours and trained more than 300 aircrew and pilots. He also earned his Bachelor of Arts in organizational management from Ashford University, and Master of Science in leadership and change management from Colorado Technical University.
Justin was very active, he enjoyed being outdoors, going to the beach, playing golf with his brothers. Justin loved making people laugh, he had an infectious smile, and witty sense of humor. He could captivate a room and take charge of it. Justin enjoyed building and creating, he took pride in bringing projects from conception to fruition. He will be remembered as a charismatic, fun-loving husband, father, son and brother.
Justin is survived by his wife, Kerin McMahon; His children, Carly Mcmahon of Newport News, VA, and Owen and Daizie McMahon of Seneca Falls, NY. He is also survived by his parents Kathleen and Mark Sloan of Syracuse, NY; His brothers Joshua McMahon and his wife Carolyn, Jason Sloan. Grandmothers Maryanne Cary and Louise Sloan of Syracuse. Uncles Robert Cary and his wife Lynne, Thomas Cary and his wife Kelly and several cousins.
Memorial Services will be held in the Chapel of Amory Funeral Home on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 2:00pm.
