Spindler Krause Jr.

Spindler Krause, Jr.., was born on October 7, 1939 in Tidewater, Virginia.
Just before the start of World War II, his family moved to Newport News and his mother used to say; “we got the last steel stove before war production started.” Spindler attended Warwick High and Richmond College, spending boating summers in Dandy. The draft called in 1961, and he volunteered for the US navy. Grandfather McCoy was a waterman and it was in his blood. He enjoyed his 2 years active, 4 years reserves as a damage control man, and carried those experiences forward in life. In 1963 he joined his dad at Krause-mayo, inc. and they worked together for 15 years. In 1967 spin married Shirley Witzke and they were blessed with 2 sons; Charles and Joseph and later with 2 grandchildren, Amber and Brett. They moved to Seaford in 1973 and remained residents for the rest of their lives. after his father’s retirement in the late 1970s, Spindler went into the insulation business and retired in the 1990s. He enjoyed sailing his Hobie Cat, chasing kayaks during kayaking camps, and keeping the beaches clean around Goodwin Island. He mentored many generations of the neighborhood in handyman activities and was an ardent supporter of midshipmen at USNA tail-gates. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and wife, and survived by his children and grandchildren. As he used to love to say: “fair winds and following seas”
