Shirley Sue Morris

Shirley Sue Morris, 85, of Newport News, VA, passed away peacefully at home on April 4, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.
Shirley was born in 1938 to Lawrence and Lula Cook in Ashcamp, KY. She was one of five children. Shirley graduated from Elkhorn City High School in 1956 and married Edwin A. Morris in 1959. She and Ed went on to have three boys, Edwin A. Morris Jr. “Butch”, Jeffery D. Morris and Daniel S. Morris.
Shirley worked for the Army in the civil service for 10 years. She was an amazing caregiver to her son Butch for 35 years after he suffered a spinal cord injury. She was also lifetime fan of the Dodgers baseball team and the University of Kentucky basketball team.
Shirley is survived by son Daniel Morris, daughter in-law Kelly Morris. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ashley Morris, Zack Morris, Chad Morris, Taylor Morris and her great granddaughter Emily Morris. She is also survived by siblings Lawrence Emery “Sam” (Marie) and Mary Bartley (Billy).
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ed and her sons Butch and Jeff. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Kenneth Cook of Lincoln Park, MI, Dallas Cook of Ashcamp, KY and Lois Wallace of Deerborn Heights, MI.
A private ceremony with family will be held in her beloved Ashcamp, KY in the summer.
