Sheila Marie Fukawa

Yorktown, Va. – Sheila Fukawa April 1955 – June 2025 It is with great sadness that the family of Sheila Marie Fukawa (nee Wenzel) announces her passing on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
She was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Maryland and a master’s degree from University of Central Oklahoma (nee Central State University). Sheila joined the Air Force in 1979 and served 10 years as a manpower officer. While stationed at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, she met Thomas Fukawa and later married him in 1986. She supported his Air Force career until his retirement in 2003. Sheila raised three children, Ryan, Carl, and Leotie in Yorktown, Virginia. She supported her children throughout their school years, volunteering as classroom mom, organizing parental support for her children’s sport teams, and supporting church programs as an active member of Bethel Manor Chapel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Marie Wenzel, and sister Marie Louise Setoudeh. She is survived by her husband and three children; sisters Sharon Kern, Virginia Johnson (Terry), and Cherie Kubas (Mark); and brother Frank Wenzel (Jean).
Sheila’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 14 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm ET at Amory Funeral Home, 410 Grafton Drive, Yorktown, VA 23692. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please donate to a charity of your choice.
