In Memoriam: Sarah Dail Gould (June 3, 1944 – October 13, 2023)
Sarah Dail Gould, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, peacefully passed away on October 13, 2023, in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Her legacy of compassion and unwavering dedication to her family will be forever treasured by her loved ones.
Sarah was born on June 3, 1944, and throughout her life, she achieved many remarkable milestones. Her true calling was her enduring commitment to her family, which was beautifully exemplified in her loving marriage to Carroll Webster Gould Jr., a partnership that lasted nearly 60 years.
As a proud and nurturing mother to her two sons, Christopher Wayne Gould and Charles Wesley Gould, she provided guidance with her wisdom, nourishment, and discipline. Sarah led by example and instilled strong values that continue to resonate within her family. Her love and compassion will be deeply missed, leaving a lasting void in the hearts of her children and their families.
Affectionately known as “Granny” to the ones she adored most, her beloved grandchildren, Haydon, Olive, and Wesley, were recipients of her unconditional love. They cherished the time they spent with her, creating memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
Sarah’s academic journey began at The College of The Albemarle, where she studied Nursing, ultimately embarking on a lifelong career in the medical field. Much of her professional life was dedicated to Eastern Virginia Medical School, Jones Institute, where she sought to support the celebration of life.
In her retirement years, she dedicated her time to playing the piano, painting, reading, and relishing life alongside her husband, while showering her cherished grandchildren with affection.
While we mourn the loss of this exceptional woman, we also celebrate the life she lived and the profound impact she had on her family. Sarah’s legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 21, 2023 in Amory Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM in Cedarwood Cemetery, Hertford, North Carolina.
May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that her unwavering devotion and profound influence will continue to endure in the lives of those she touched.
