Sara Lee Jacobs


Sara Lee Jacobs of Yorktown passed away peacefully on December 19th after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 81 years old. Sara was preceded in death by her parents Louis Charles and Mary Anita Brocksmith, her husband, David C. Jacobs and five siblings. She is survived by her children Dr. Katherine L. Hall of Christiansburg, VA and Curry (Chris) Hall IV (Jennifer) of Seaford as well as three grandchildren, Madeline, Christian and Lillian. She is also survived by her sister Cookie Gwaltney (Gerald) and her brother David Brocksmith.
Sara was a devoted mother, wife and sister who loved to sail, garden, cook, birdwatch and take care of her cats. Sara worked at Bluewater Yacht Sales for many years. She later worked at Hunt Oil Company, Teledyne Hastings, Chisman Concrete and the Jamestown Foundation. Sara traveled frequently and loved new places. She became fond of the mountains as well as being on the water, and was happiest when she could be in those natural settings. Sara also enjoyed painting and took painting classes until her Alzheimer’s journey began.
Sara’s children ask that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter in Newport News, VA or the Alzheimer’s Association. The family will host a celebration of Sara’s life on January 13, 2024 at 11AM at Amory Funeral Home, 410 Grafton Drive, Grafton, VA.
