Deltaville—Robert “Rabbit” E. Baber, Jr., 66, formerly from Grafton, died Saturday, April 26.
“Rabbit” is known for his hard work as a car mechanic for many years alongside his father Robert “Hillbilly” E. Baber, Sr. at Tabb Auto Repair, Tabb VA. In his more recent years Rabbit was known for being the best Pop Pop his eight grandchildren could’ve ever asked for. From Dairy Queen dates with his granddaughters Skye and Raevyn to lazy days at home with his little man Junebug. Rabbit was the most amazing dad to his three beautiful girls. Rabbit was a friend to everyone he met. He would lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Robert “Hillbilly” E. Baber, Sr. and sister, Kimberly Mangrum. He is survived by his mother, Laura Chaney of Danville, VA; one brother, Anthony “Tony” Baber (Amy) of Jefferson, GA and one sister, Carla Baber Sparks of Danville, VA; three daughters, Rebecca Baber Thompson (Matt) of Deltaville, Victoria Baber Colon (Giovanni) of Grafton, Sami Baber of Emporia; eight grandchildren, Junior, Skye, Luna, Freya and Raevyn, Kenneth, Nicole and Axel. Several nieces and nephews including his sneaky sidekick cave room girl, DQ ice cream, banana split and Wii Bowling opponent niece, Allison of Jefferson, GA.
Robert’s wish was to be cremated and his remains to be placed beside his dad at Parklawn Memorial Cemetery in Hampton. A graveside service will be held on Monday May 5, at 3:00 PM for friends and family at Parklawn Memorial Park.
