He was a native of Scottsburg, Virginia and worked for New Port News Shipbuilding for 16 years and then worked for Krause-Mayo installing boilers and HVAC systems for many years and then Rose Brother’s continuing his installs and service of his specialty boilers. He was recognized by contractor through out the state as the “best”. He took pride in everything he did. He was amazingly talented in many trades.
He moved back to Scottsburg in 1999 to where he was raised. He started his own little business doing odd jobs and continued his work as boiler and HVAC tech. He raised a garden which he enjoyed working and his favorite thing in the fall raking and burning leaves. All his grandchildren referred to him as pyromaniac. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing he always bragged on his catfish of 62lbs. He harvested several nice bucks, but enjoyed the comradery of the guys he hunted with mostly always fixing sausage biscuits for them before the hunt. Bob was quite the cook, he prepare outstanding meals and made some of the best bread and butter pickles ever. He enjoyed canning the reaps of his garden sharing them with family and friends. He attended Revelation Baptist Church and was proactive. He always greeted others with a welcome smile and would take time to converse with them. He never met a person he disliked.
Bob spent his last 8 months in assisted living where he was loved by all there and he loved them all as well. He was the real “Ladies Man” spending time doing some activities and drinking coffee together early morning which he called alone time.
