Raymond “Les” Leslie Wilson

Raymond “Les” Leslie Wilson, 81, of Wake, VA passed away on January 25, 2022. Service will be provided by Amory Funeral Home. Monday, Visitation from 2-3 PM followed by a memorial service at 3 PM.
Les grew up in Dare where he developed lifelong relationships. He graduated from York High School and attended Thomas Nelson and Christopher Newport to continue his education.
He was employed by Newport News Waterworks as a chemist for over 30 years. He was also employed by the Colonial Stores. He tended bar at many Williamsburg locations where he met and made friends with people from around the world. Les was a loving and caring gentleman who throughout his life never met a stranger. If you were
lucky enough to cross his path, he made a lasting impression forever! He could talk endlessly about his travels, family, friends and thrifting finds (sale”r” without a boat). He would never let anyone go without. His sense of adventure led him to many parts of the United States and distant countries (no trip was ever thoroughly planned out!). Les was one of a kind and there will never be another!
He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Malissa Wilson, siblings Deloris Ladnier and Stanley Wilson (Norma Jean), nephew Thomas Wroten. He is survived by Brenda Grose, Larry Wilson (Anna), Brian Wroten (Nancy), Michael Wilson and a host of great and great great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by devoted friends Shirley Eperly, John Sprouse and many many others.
Goodnight Mrs. Calabash; wherever you are; Bye-sickle;
Remember to always sleep with a smile!!
