Ray Earl Ames
On March 9, 2022 CMSgt. Ray E. Ames passed away. He served thirty years in the military and retired from LAFB where he was well liked and respected. He and his family were lucky to have lived all over the world. He was honored to keep many service men and women connected to their families by working with USO, he also was the treasurer at his church. He lives on by his wife Joann Ames and two adult daughters Stacy Ames and Lynn Creel (Russell Creel). Grandchildren Amanda Ames, Chris Creel, and Katie Nixon. He always made sure he was part of his children’s and grandchildren’s lives growing up. He was a great listener and had a calm presence.
Always willing to coach sports or pick up from school and he did so with good humor. He will always be remembered as the man with the cigar.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Thursday March 31, at 2:00 pm in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are by Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, Va.
