Ralph Edward Huck

Ralph Edward Huck passed away on November 15, 2024 at the age of 87.
He was a long-time resident of Yorktown, Virginia and more recently of the Hidenwood Retirement Community in Newport News.
Ralph was born in 1937 in Belleville, Illinois to the late Robert and Doris Huck. He was the oldest of four children. In 1954 he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, and in 1966 he married the love of his life Patricia Andress, and together they raised four sons.
He was proud to have served 26 years in the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked his way through the enlisted ranks to Chief Petty Officer, then to Chief Warrant Officer, and eventually retiring as a Lieutenant Commander. He loved spending time with his family and neighbors, trout fishing in the Ozarks, putting on a BBQ on the back porch, and sharing sea stories of his travels to Asia, Europe, the Arctic, and numerous other places that his military career took him.
Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; sister, Gwendolyn (Maggie) Huck; stepson, Christopher Pippert; and granddaughter, Erin Huck. He is survived by his brothers, Michael Huck and his wife Susan, and Vincent Huck; sons Eric Huck and his wife Karen, Andrew Huck and his wife Lauren, and Daniel Huck; grandchildren, Ethan Huck and his wife Colleen, Zachary Huck, Josephine Huck, Lucas Huck, Lily Huck, and Declan Huck; great grandsons Enzo Huck and Remington Huck; niece Melissa Pfarr; nephews Michael Bangert and Eric Huck; and dear family friend Amy Slaughter.
Thank you to his physicians and staff of Riverside Health System, and to the staff of the Hidenwood Retirement Community for the outstanding care.
Ralph was a thoughtful, generous, and kind person who will be missed by so many. Interment will be held at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
