Polathep Karnjanaprakorn


Polathep “P.K.” Karnjanaprakorn, 75, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on March 28, 2024 surrounded by his wife and children.
Born in Bangkok, Thailand, Polathep moved to the United States after attending Aroonpradit High School. Polathep enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served with honor for 22 years. The U.S. Army took Polathep to South Korea, where he met his wife Young Karnjanaprakorn. They were then stationed in Newport News, VA where they raised their two children before they retired in Yorktown, VA.
Polathep found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Fishing was his true passion and he could spend hours in his backyard where he found solace and joy in fishing. Polathep was also an avid coin collector and built an extensive collection of coins from all over the world. An amazing self-taught cook, Polathep cooked many Thai dishes often for friends and family.
Polathep was predeceased by his father, Choop Karnjanaprakorn and mother and is survived by his wife of 43 years, Young Karnjanaprakorn, daughter Dennissa Salazar and husband Javier Salazar; and granddaughter Mila Salazar. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service to honor the life of Polathep will be held at 6:00pm on April 4, 2024 at Amory Funeral Home located at 410 Grafton Dr, Yorktown VA. An interment reflecting his dedicated service to the U.S. Army will follow at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
