It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patrick O. Orndorff, 85, of Yorktown, Virginia, who passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024.
Born in 1939 in Illinois, Pat grew up in Portsmouth, VA. He attended Churchland High School, Fredrick Military Academy and Fredrick College, where he received an associate’s degree.
A devoted husband and father, and an avid outdoorsman, Pat shared his passion for backpacking and whitewater canoeing as an instructor with the Carolina Wilderness Institute in Greensboro, NC. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Reserves, and member of the American Legion.
Pat is survived by his wife of 62 years, Susan Winfree Orndorff; children, Patrick (Lindsay) Orndorff, Graham (Joyce) Orndorff; grandchildren Kathryn Orndorff and Matthew Orndorff; and his brother, Alfred Orndorff.
He was preceded in death by his father, Berlin Orndorff, his mother Verlie Wooddy, and his sister Sonja Whetzel.
A celebration of life will be held at Pat’s favorite restaurant, Thai Erawan, at 2960 Hampton Hwy, Yorktown, VA 23693, on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm. All are welcome. Arrangements by Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, Va.
