Michael Christopher Godfrey

Yorktown, VA – Michael Christopher Godfrey, 38, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2022. Mike was a native and lifelong peninsula resident. He graduated from Denbigh Baptist Christian School in 2001 and from Liberty University in 2004. After that, he enjoyed working alongside his father at Deer Park Auto Sales.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years Julie St. Pierre Godfrey and his two lovely daughters, Lexi and Reese. He is also survived by his parents Donna and Arthur Godfrey and his in laws Sue and Robert St. Pierre, along with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Mike enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was quick to offer help in any situation, or lend an ear and offer encouragement. He had a way of making those around him feel seen, accepted, and genuinely cared for. As a youth, Mike enjoyed shopping with his mom and fishing with his grandpa, learning about cars from his dad, and doing crazy things in them with his friends. In college he studied business marketing and met the love of his life, Julie, whom he married and shared countless adventures with over the ensuing years.
After his daughters were born, they quickly became little ‘daddy’s girls’. Watching them grow and learn made him so proud. He enjoyed playing Uno with them, and teaching them about boating and landscaping. He was especially happy when they would scratch his back or massage his feet. Watching them sit together and eat lunch on the beach was one of his greatest joys. He often read and told them stories, and had a sweet softness to his face when doing so.
Mike loved playing fetch with his dog Allie, who was always by his side. He was a car enthusiast and avid boater, and couldn’t wait to get out to the beach whenever possible. He was an expert at the art of the deal. Watching him barter and negotiate was a sight to behold. He appreciated good landscaping, and was always on the hunt for his next palm tree. He loved good food, and eagerly anticipated holiday meals and going out to restaurants, as well as his standing Friday night Chinese food date with Julie.
Mike was not shy about his faith in Jesus. He put his family first and never complained, reminding them daily of his love and appreciation for them. He was so very loved and will be greatly missed.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 1:00 PM in Crossroads Community Church, Yorktown. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church starting at Noon. Arrangements by Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Appendix Cancer Pseudomyxoma Peritonei Research Foundation.
