Merilyne Burnett

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Merilyne K. Burnett (nee Ross), a cherished mother, sister, and friend. Merilyne, 68, of Williamsburg, Virginia, was called home to be with the Lord on April 27, 2024.
Born in Kansas City, Kansas, on June 1, 1955, Merilyne grew up imbued with steadfast values and a tremendous work ethic. Her career spanned several decades within the automotive industry, where she was esteemed for her exceptional skills and unwavering commitment. Her tenure began at Coxtons Auto Body in Newport News, Virginia, and culminated at CMA’s Williamsburg Ford in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Renowned for her intelligence and diligence, Merilyne was also noted for her generous spirit, her devotion to her family, and her patriotism. Her greatest joy was found in the moments shared with her beloved children and granddaughter, as well as in the fellowship of her church and community.
A devout member of Faith Fellowship Assembly of God, she found solace and strength in her faith, frequently participating in Bible studies. Merilyne’s love for simple pleasures was evident in the joy she took from card games with loved ones, and her memory will be cherished in these traditions.
Left to honor her memory are her twin children, Jake Jones (Sarah) and Jesse Brown (Chuck); her granddaughter Jocelyn Jones; her siblings Jim Ross (Sheila), Sandy Spota (Michael), and Becky Griffith (John); along with her nephews Joe and Jeremy, niece Sarah, great-niece Ruby, and a host of dear friends and colleagues. Merilyne now rests with her late father, Don Ross; her mother, Kay Ross; and sisters, Bethie Ross and Pam Cordero.
The family will receive friends and relatives for a memorial service on Saturday, June 8, at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Fellowship Assembly of God 112 School House Lane Williamsburg, Va. 23188. In respect of Merilyne’s loving spirit, and in lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to heritagehumane.org in honor of her favorite dog Toby, and in support of the humane treatment of animals.
Merilyne’s legacy of love, devotion, and service to others will live on through the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, but we take comfort in knowing she rests in eternal peace.
