Matthew Ray Burcher

Matthew Ray Burcher, 39, of Charlotte Hall, MD passed away peacefully on March 3, 2024, surrounded by his wife, family and loved ones.

Throughout his life, Matthew aspired to become a husband and a father. After 25 years, he finally was able to marry his high school sweetheart and became a stepfather to four children (Stephen, Benjamin, John and Amelia) who loved him to the moon and back. Some of his most precious memories were made with his family and they are heartbroken by his passing.
Matthew grew up in Yorktown, VA and graduated from Grafton High School. He maintained friendships from high school well into adulthood. He was a man of high morals and integrity. Affectionately known to his family as “Boy.”
One of his greatest joys in life was drag racing with his dad. From the time Matthew was old enough to reach the pedals of the car, he could be found flying down the drag strip. More than just enjoyment, Matthew had an absolute talent for drag racing, winning many awards and beating several records.
Matthew is survived by his wife Cynthia, and their children. Also, he is survived by his mother Toni Stalknaker, his father Ray Burcher, and their respective spouses, in addition to numerous other relatives, friends, and track family. The family invites anyone that would like to attend a celebration of Matthew’s beautiful life to be held at Amory funeral home on Saturday, March 9, 2024 @ 3:00pm, with additional dates (TBD) to follow for scattering of ashes at area drag strips.
