Mary Virginia West

Mary Virginia Wornom West, 77, of Henrico, NC, passed away Monday, January 24, 2022.
Born April 17, 1944 in Hampton, VA, she was the daughter of the late Hardy Herman Wornom and Florence Freeman Wornom. Virginia grew up in Poquoson and graduated from Poquoson High School in 1962.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband of 46 years, Roger West; her only child, Yvonne (Vonnie) Hurst (Darrel) of Gloucester; grandchildren, Ashley Carroll (Patrick) of Chesterfield; Amber Tignor of Gloucester; Justin Hurst (Megan) of Matthews; and 2 great-grandson’s Izaiah Griffey and Parker Carroll whom she adored. She is also survived by a host of family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, February 4 at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory and her love for Cats to Poquoson Animal Welfare Sanctuary, 181 Messick Rd., Poquoson, VA 23662.
