Marshall Burcher Forrest, Sr.


Seaford, VA – Marshall Burcher Forrest, Sr. 84, died peacefully at Mary Immaculate Hospital on November 14, 2024.
Marshall was born July 27, 1940, in Seaford, Virginia where he continued to reside for most of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Marie Forrest, his brother Raymond Spencer Forrest, and his infant grandson Jordan Tyler Forrest. Marshall is survived by his children Marshall (Mark) Burcher Forrest, Jr. (Tammy), and Marcia Beth Forrest; two granddaughters Brittney Chappell (Glenn), and Blaire Liggett (Brett); seven grandchildren Franklin Chappell, Madeline Chappell, Forrest Chappell, Brycen Willis, Ethan Liggett, Logan Liggett, and Hudson Liggett. Also surviving are his brother, Carleton Forrest, and sisters Jackie Robinson, and Mary Virginia Boyd (Richard). Marshall served in the United States Airforce where he was stationed in Topeka, Kansas and completed a tour in Korea. Marshall was a hard worker throughout his life. He owned and ran a landscape company and still enjoyed being on his lawn mower well into his late seventies. He enjoyed listening to old -time gospel music, watching sports on television, singing karaoke, and spending time with his devoted best friends Bruce and Dickie. He was a lifetime member of Zion United Methodist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. The family would like to extend many thanks to the staff of York Convalescent for the care that he has received over the past several years, as well as Mary Immaculate Hospital for the care in his final days. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 1:00 pm in Zion United Methodist Church, 2109 Seaford Road, Seaford, VA 23696. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
