Kenneth Wayne Pleasant


Kenneth W. Pleasant, 79, of Yorktown, passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021, after a brave battle with cancer. He was born in Charlottesville, VA, graduated from Hampton High School, and attended the University of Virginia. He served in the United States Army Reserves and worked as an engineer at Newport News Shipbuilding for nearly fifty years. He was predeceased by his parents, John W. and Ruth G. Pleasant. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Pat, daughter, Joanna Frady (Ian), granddaughter, Cora, and favorite cousin, Charles Via of Charlottesville. The family would like to express appreciation to Bon Secours Hospice, especially Denise, Karen, and Paul, and to Virginia Oncology Associates, especially Mika, Mary, and Mandy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Grace Historical Church Preservation Foundation (111 Church Street, P.O. Box 123, Yorktown, VA, 23690). He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Yorktown for 48 years, and the funeral will be held there on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverends Seldon Walker and Carleton Bakkum officiating.
