Kayla Marie Pike

Kayla Marie Pike was born in Yorktown, VA on November 11, 1986 and her light left our world too suddenly on July 22, 2021 at the young age of 34. Kayla resided in Gates, North Carolina with her loving husband, Josh Pike and five amazing children, Hendrix, Rocklin, Finley, Bowie and Joslyn.
From a very young age, Kayla embodied creativity, artistry, a deep love of friends and family and a smile that lit up every room. She was a fierce and loving mother to her five children and devoted so much of her energy, silliness and unending compassion to them. She was a free spirit who found her true passion and calling in life through the lens of a camera. A brilliantly talented photographer, Kayla was an entrepreneur who photographed newborns, expectant mothers, families and weddings – perfectly capturing the most intimate, happy and beautiful moments in the lives of those who were lucky enough to be on the receiving end of her lens. In these photography sessions, Kayla had the ability to make crying babies smile, nervous expecting mothers glow, anxious brides feel joy and families embrace one another lovingly in the moment. She brought her whole self to her photography, allowing those she photographed to feel comfort, ease, confidence and most importantly – pure joy.
Outside of photography and family Kayla loved the outdoors, the quiet calm of a life in the country, the vivid colors in a sunset, growing food in her garden for her family, cooking, sharing her life on social media, dancing, making funny videos, movies, laughing and living a carefree, artistic life with the love of her life, Josh Pike.
We remember Kayla as our butterfly. Butterflies are not only beautiful, but they have mystery, symbolism and meaning and are a metaphor representing spiritual rebirth, transformation, change, hope and life. The magnificent, yet short life of the butterfly closely mirrors the process of spiritual transformation and serves to remind us that life is short.
Kayla is survived by her husband Josh and five children, Hendrix, Rocklin, Finley, Bowie and Joslyn, her father Steve Roznowski, sister Kelli Hurley and her family, Kevin Hurley, Scarlett Hurley and Hope Hurley, brother Brian Roznowski and late mother Denise Roznowski.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday July 31st at the Seaford Yacht Club, 3108 Goodwin Neck Rd. Yorktown, VA 23692 beginning at 4pm. All our welcome to join us in celebrating Kayla’s beautiful life and sending her off into the light with love, strength and peace.
