Katherine Ingram Bean

The Lord took Katherine Ingram Bean peacefully and quietly on Saturday May 25,2024 at home surrounded by her husband and son at the age of 72 years old.
She had courageously battled a rare appendiceal cancer for more than 8 years.
She was born in Newport News, Virginia at Riverside Hospital. Grew up in Hampton and attended Jefferson Davis Jr High, Hampton High and graduated from Bethel High School in 1970. While at Bethel High she excelled as a gymnast as well as being voted Most Athletic by her Sr. Class. After high school she trained as a Dental Assistant where she continued to work in multiple dental offices for more than 50 years until her retirement in 2014. The last 24 years she worked for Dr. Jeffery Bass, DDS and loved working with him and on many patients whom she loved and loved her.
Kathy married her high school sweetheart, Roy Bean, later in 1970 and was married just 3 weeks short of 54 wonderful years. She was an amazing wife who loved her husband and lived life to its fullest by traveling, riding roller coasters, water skiing, playing softball, and up for any new adventure. She was a joy to anyone who knew her as she had an infectious smile, a great laugh, and a loving, welcoming demeaner always. Kathy loved the Lord and people and was active in church her entire life. She served with her husband teaching middle school/high school youth, being a youth sponsor, teaching young married classes and leading a multitude of small groups. Kathy was a mentor to many women who crossed her path in these ministries. She lived her faith in every part of her life.
Kathy lived in Hampton, Newport News and for the last 35 years in Poquoson, Virginia. She lived in East Texas for 13 years due to her husband’s job relocation until 1989. Kathy attended Liberty Baptist Church as a child but has been an active member of Northside Christian Church, Yorktown, Virginia for most of her adult life.
She is preceded in death by her father Clifford H Ingram and mother Kathleen Showalter Ingram, F.I.L William A Bean, M.I.L Evelyn Norton Bean, B.I.L Mike Bean, S.I.L Martha Swank.
Survivors include her husband Roy Bean of Poquoson, son Doug Bean, Jr, of Winchester, Virginia, siblings Linda McKay of Topeka, Kansas, James C Ingram and wife Kathryn of Mart, Texas, and their families as well as B.I.L. Larry A Bean and wife Loretta Bean of Alamogordo, NM and their family.
Kathy was a kind and compassionate person who loved her family, friends, animals (especially our Dachshund Maggie and Doug’s Pity Evie who we pray is with her) and especially her Lord Jesus Christ who she loved dearly. We miss her so much but look forward to seeing her again in Heaven one day.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Amory Funeral Home in Yorktown, Virginia. This will include a Celebration of Life Service Saturday June 8, 2024, at 4pm at Northside Christian Church, 1300 George Washington Memorial Hwy, Yorktown, Virginia. It will be officiated by Nathan Lawson, Sr Minister and Larry Jones, Minister. There will be refreshments following the service and an opportunity to visit with family.
