Joy was an old-fashioned southern belle. She loved to sing, host family dinners, and travel the country by RV with her husband. She was an active member at Crooks United Methodist Church until she quit driving. She volunteered for many years at the St. Luke’s UMC food pantry. She loved taking walks outside and was known as the energizer bunny during physical therapy.
Joy’s children would like to thank Rev. Lisa Barbery of Crooks UMC for rushing to the hospital in time to help our mother transition to eternity with prayer, song and scripture. We would also like to thank Alexis, Lisa, and Laura of Legacy Healthcare Services for their compassion and dedication in keeping our mother in such great shape and Krista who checked on her every morning to make sure she was safe.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 300 Ella Taylor Road Yorktown, VA 23692 or York County Fire & Life Safety, 301 Goodwin Neck Road Yorktown, VA 23692 in Joy Wallace’s memory.
