Jon Rodney Lawson

Jon Rodney Lawson, 79, of Seaford, Virginia, passed away suddenly at his home on July 11, 2025.
Jon was born on August 30, 1945 and raised in Poquoson, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Huggett Lawson, father Issac Rodney Lawson, and sister Sally Lawson Roy (Carl Roy). Jon is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mildred Anne Arthur, his three children, Rodney Lawson, Annalee Lawson, and Emily Lawson Findley, grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. He graduated from York High School in1965. Jon served as a chief plumber/steamfitter/inspector technical supervisor for the Facilities Management Department at the College of William and Mary, until he retired in 2011.
Jon felt most at home with the salty air on his face and the Chesapeake Bay stretching before him. The bay and ocean were his playground; where he spent countless hours fishing and finding peace. Jon was a passionate animal lover; feeding the birds, the flying squirrels, and all the neighborhood dogs. His hands, always busy, also found solace and creativity in woodworking and the satisfaction of splitting wood. He was generous with his time, wisdom, and storytelling. Sharing a laugh or a helping hand was something Jon cherished.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
