John David Gibbs


On The early morning of December 31st, 2025 John David Gibbs age 74 peacefully passed at home.
David was preceded in death by his parents W. Winifred Gibbs and Edward “Eddie” Gibbs Sr., sister Rose Ann Boggs, and brothers Benjamin “Benny” Gibbs, Edward “Doody” William Gibbs Jr. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Cherie Gibbs, Daughters Sharon Picardat and Heather Picardat, Granddaughter Brooklynn Williams, his brothers and nephews, and other loved ones.
David Gibbs, a lifelong truck driver passed away surrounded by the love and memories of a life well lived. David made his living on the open road, the road was more than a job to him it was a way of life. When he wasn’t behind the wheel of his truck, David found Joy riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle embracing the freedom power and peace that came with every ride. That same love for the open road carried through everything he did. Above all else, David was a devoted family man. He loved his family deeply and worked tirelessly to provide for and protect them.
David’s journey may have reached its final destination but his spirit lives on in the hearts of his family friends and everyone else who’s life he touched.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Vernon Davis and his family for the wonderful care and help giving during this time.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday January 7th, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaford’s Zion United Methodist Church cemetery.
