Joann Helen Ames

Joann Helen Ames was born August 4, 1937 in Pennsylvania. Joanne passed away at home on May 23, 2025 at the age of eighty eight.
She graduated from Fayette High School where she was part of band that she loved. After high school she worked in Pittsburgh which is when she met Ray Ames. He worked in the National Guard during that time. After shortly dating; they were married Jan 2958. In 1968, Ray became active duty in Vietnam and their military life was started. As a family they lived all over the world and traveled with their two daughters. Joann was amazing at making each new place feel like home. Always seeing the positive in each situation. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was admired for her kindness and open heartiness.
She left behind her two daughters (Lynn Creel and Stacy Ames) and three Grandchildren (Russell Creel, Katie Nixon, and Amanda Ames) and her beloved dog, Abagail. The funeral service will be held at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery on June 23 at 1pm. Reception to follow. In lieu of Flowers please consider a donation to Albert G.
