Jessie Jean left this life Sunday, March 30, 2025.She was born January 1st, 1962. She was a native of the Denbigh area of Newport News and graduated from Denbigh High School.
Jessie worked for Crown Central Petroleum for 23 years. Upon the firm’s sale, Jay Jay decided to retire, after which she started “County Girls Cleaning” where she worked until her illness forced her to retire again. Jay Jay and her husband, Ira Millen, moved to York County in June 2002 and resided there until her death.
Although she lived for years in Newport News, she loved spending time at her grandmother’s home, Ms. Thelma Ruth Owens McMann, who lived in Port Haywood, Virginia.
She is predeceased by her parents, Sidney “Dave” Davis and Maxine Davis, her brothers Sidney, “Butch” Davis, Danny Davis, and Bruce Davis. She is survived by her husband, Ira Millen, daughter, Aimee Jo Childers (Daniel Staples) and grandson, Kayden H. Staples, sisters in law; Sheryl Davis, Carolyn Millen, and Nancy Bolton; brothers in law; Dallas Millen (Sharon), Stewart Millen, and Gene Milen (Kim), step children Eve Eggleston (Brian) Preston Millen and Nicholas Millen, nephews, Brandon Davis and Nicholas Davis, and eight step grandchildren.
Thanks are extended to Ruth Koutsombinas, Jay Jay’s long time special friend and caregiver during her trying times. Ruth has been a Godsend.
Jay Jay loved traveling and spending time with her many lady friends and their spouses. She was always up for a new adventure and had a smile that could light up the darkest room.
Funeral services will be held April 12, 2025 at 3:30pm at Amory Funeral Home, 410 Grafton Drive, Grafton, VA 23692. A celebration of Life will be held afterward at Military Services Club Duley, 400 Old York Hampton Highway, Grafton, VA.
