Imogene (Jean) Womack White

Jean White passed peacefully on February 7, 2025.
Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband and soulmate, Dale White, parents David and Mildred Womack, and brother Kenneth Womack.
She is survived by her daughter, Laureen Daniels and her husband Bill; son, Dennis White (Cindy); grandchildren, Brittany Voll (JP), Taylor Daniels, and Reba White; and great-granddaughter, Abigail; and her brother David Womack (Nelva).
Jean leaves behind a very loving group of caregivers at WindsorMeade Williamsburg in Manchester House, Hadley House, and Bedford Terrace. Jean’s family expresses their sincerest thanks for being our loving extended family for the last six years.
Jean was born in North Carolina in 1937. The daughter of a steel worker and a homemaker, she traveled to many states throughout her young years before finally finding home in Newport News. It was here that she met her soulmate, Dale, while he was in the Air Force and she worked at Fort Monroe. Dale and Jean married in 1959 and started their family in 1960. She loved listening to music and dancing with Dale. Jean worked for The Social Security Administration and in her spare time volunteered with The Girl Scouts. Over the years, she enjoyed travelling with her family, visiting State Parks and visiting family from New York to Florida.
During her retirement, she spent many hours restoring antiques, gardening and sewing. She took classes for stained glass and Folk Art painting. Jean gifted some of her beautifully handcrafted items among her family, which will be cherished for generations to come. She adored her grandchildren, Brittany and Taylor, ultimately retiring early to take care of them and her aging parents. She inspired in her grandchildren a passion for creative hobbies, writing, thrifting, and finding joy in the unassuming, little things in life, which they continue to carry on and share with their families.
Jean showed an unwavering love for her family and instilled strong family values in her children and grandchildren. Unfortunately, Alzheimer’s had taken a strong hold on her before she could get to know her great-granddaughter.
She is sorely missed by her loving daughter and her family. They take great comfort in knowing that she rests in peace forever in Heaven with the loved ones who passed before her. We love you Mom, Jean, Grandma, Great-Grandma!
