Henry A. Hogge


Henry A. Hogge, age 76, went to be with the Lord on May 8, 2025. He was a proud, lifelong resident of Dandy, Va.
He was the son of the late William “Bill” and Gladys Hogge. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Hogge and sister, Joan Anne Rhyne.
Henry is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 56 years, Cathy Hogge; his loving daughter Amy Phaup (Ben); son Brad Hogge (Erin), and his grandchildren Madelyn and Conor. He is also survived by his brothers Richard Hogge (Pat) and Paul Hogge (Brenda); as well as several nieces and nephews who loved him very much.
As a young man, he worked alongside his father and brothers building homes throughout York County with skill and care. His love for the outdoors led him to Wilcox Bait & Tackle, where he shared his passion for fishing with others. Later, Henry brought his creativity and expertise to the Mariner’s Museum, serving as the Exhibit Production Manager for many years. His work helped preserve and showcase maritime history, leaving a lasting impact on visitors and colleagues alike.
Henry’s love and respect for nature was evident in many aspects of his life. He was a devoted outdoorsman spending countless hours hunting and fishing. Birdwatching was his window into the wonders of nature. His keen eye captured breathtaking images through the lens of his camera, and his talent for woodworking was a testament to his creativity, transforming pieces of wood into works of art cherished by many.
A graveside service for all family and friends will be held on Saturday May 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Grafton Christian Church, 109 Brick Church Rd. Yorktown.
