Gregory “Greg” K. Bauer


Gregory “Greg” K. Bauer, age 78 of Yorktown, died Friday, August 1, 2025, in his home.
Greg was born on September 15, 1946, in Durand, Wisconsin. He was very proud of his Wisconsin heritage. With his fathers’ long military career, Greg moved throughout the United States and abroad. Greg also served in the U. S. Army during Vietnam.
He was a 1964 graduate of St. Vincent Central High School and began a 35-year professional career in the automotive industry. He was awarded numerous certifications and accreditations from Chevrolet Motor Division. Among them were various Master Technician certifications and he graduated from General Motors University in Automotive Management.
His profession extended into being an enthusiast of automobiles. He was the proud owner and operator of “Grumpy’s Garage” – a place to gather and reminisce, have witty conversations and “occasionally fix something”.
Greg loved life. He was a loving and generous husband; he took great pleasure in helping others; if he was your friend, you were friends for life.
Greg was a member of the Hampton Roads Corvette Club and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Greg is survived by his wife of 37 years, Jody; brother, Joseph (Ann); sister, Kristine; brother-in-law, John (LuAnne); uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and lots of friends.
Greg is preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Kathleen Bauer; brother Patrick Bauer; and sister Kathryn Carpenter.
Greg and Jody would like to thank Dr. Jeffrey Harris and Riverside Hospice, especially Marie, Jes and Ashley for their support, kindness and love.
Visitation will be from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, Virginia. A funeral mass will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2150 Cunningham Drive, Hampton, Virginia. Reception to follow.
