Gloria Prince Respress


Grafton, Va. – Gloria Prince Respress of Grafton, Va. born August 24, 1943, passed away peacefully on Sunday February 12, 2023 surrounded by her family. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband, C.E. Raye Respress, sister E. Maxine Simmons (Howard), niece Dawn Dotson (Jayfred), niece Joy Ervin (Jimmy), and nephew David B. Hudgins (Joanie) as well as so many friends too numerous to name. She was preceded in death by her father Dudley Owen Prince and mother, Eva M. Prince.
Gloria graduated from John Marshall High School in Richmond, VA. She was president of the York County Jaycets 1973-1974. She worked for a short time at AT&T. After 30 years of service, she retired in 1997 from the Naval Weapon Station as a Personnel Specialist, after originally starting part time as a secretary.
Gloria was beautiful, loving, intelligent, and creative. She spent many years full of many hours making all types of beautiful crafts and cooking every manner of delicious recipes. In turn, she taught her friends and family as much of her crafting and cooking skills as they could learn. She read countless books and could have owned her own library as she loaned books to anyone willing to read. Gloria was active as a member and volunteer at Providence United Methodist Church of Dare, Va.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 18, 2023 in Providence United Methodist Church, Dare, VA. Arrangements are by Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, Va.
