George Ray (Campbell) Parcell


George Ray (Campbell) Parcell died peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023 of a chronic illness at Sentara Careplex Hospital, Hampton, VA. He was 56.
George was born in Roanoke, VA on March 30, 1967. He spent his early years in the Stuarts Draft, Pamplin, and Staunton, VA areas. In May of 1973, he was adopted by Ray and Marie Parcell, then of Seaford, VA. He was baptized Catholic in 1973 at St. Joan of Arc Church. George attended Seaford Elementary School, York Middle and High School, graduating in 1986. The family moved to the Yorktown area. This remained his permanent home. George had a very friendly and positive personality. He loved his family, friends, and cooking. He was employed in restaurants and kitchens in the York/Williamsburg area, the Outer Banks, NC, and Orlando, FL. He was very dependable and well-thought-of by family, friends, and coworkers.
He was preceded in death by his adoptive father, Ray Parcell, who died in 2007. Left to mourn George are his mother, Marie Parcell, his brother, C.W. Parcell, and wife Barbara (Mills) Parcell, nieces Kyleigh, Jillian, and Harper Parcell, all of Yorktown, VA, cousins Faye (Michael) Kidd, Ruth (Dave) Harmon, Linda (Dave) Haislar and Marta (Fred) Wade – all of the St. Louis, MO area, and John, Tynch and other long-time friends in the Outer Banks, NC area.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 5, 2024by Rev. Michael Joly at St. Joan of Arc Church, Rt. 17 at Harris Grove Lane, Yorktown, VA.
