George Henry King

Yorktown, Va. – George Henry King, 76, of Yorktown, VA, passed away on January 1st 2026 in the warmth and comfort of the long-time home he shared with his surviving wife, Duygu “Dee” King.
George was born on September 30th 1949 to parents George H. King and Hazel Ferguson in Honolulu, HI. He was hardworking and dedicated, serving an impressive twenty years in the United States Air Force and completing several tours and deployments in honor of his country. Post-retirement, he continued to work as a civilian in the defense industry, forever committed to raising and providing for his family.
To complement his strong work ethic, George also knew when to slow down and enjoy the pleasures in life. He loved to travel with his family: walking the sandy coasts of Waikiki Beach, taking in the craggy ridges of the Grand Canyon, viewing the bright city lights of Las Vegas, and exploring the soulful streets of Izmir, Turkey, are all impactful experiences that he helped create for his loved ones. Still, their fondest memories of him include a cozy night in with his guitar, a ball game on the screen, and a good brandy in hand.
George will always be remembered as a present and loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Dee; his four daughters: Sara (Richard) Yanisch Mathison, Pamela (Michael) King, Jamie Kissel, and Tiare (Jae) Franza; his grandchildren: Kevin (Kendra) Hatcher, Kristen (Beau) Scheving, Justin Hatcher, Rachel (Reynold) Kissling-Hatcher, Coleman Kissel, Lexia Franza, and Duncan Franza; and his great-grandchildren: Kallyn Hatcher, Keegan Hatcher, Keira Hatcher, Maxwell Scheving, and Logan Scheving.
His family and friends find peace and comfort in the values he passed down, leaving with them his legacy of strength, loyalty, honor, and love.
A service to celebrate George’s life will be held on Wednesday, January 28th, at 2:00 PM at Amory Funeral Home in Yorktown, Virginia. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
