Franklin M. Wharton


Franklin M. Wharton, a recent civil service retiree from the department of Navy, and a longtime resident of Yorktown, Fredericksburg, and Seaford Virginia died unexpectedly on February 24, 2022 at the age of 62. He was born on March 14, 1959 in Zambales, Philippines.
Franklin was a devoted father and a loving brother. He enjoyed the simplest pleasures in life such as: walking his dog’s Aspen and Octavia, reading mystery novels, watching documentaries, working out at the gym, listening to music, hiking, running, and visiting museums while in California brought greatest joy to Franklin Wharton.
He was an avid fan of square dancing. Which lead Franklin to become a valued member and an immense supporter of the Square Edges Newport News Dance Group for many years.
When Franklin was younger, he was a fan of fencing, where he and his son engaged in numerous tournaments and competitions, at the local, state, and national levels. He was a long time member of the United States Fencing Association, as well as a pioneer of the Dark Horse Fencing Club in Fredericksburg Virginia.
Franklin was an accomplished man, well travelled, exceptionally respected. While he was a man of few words, Franklin was certainly a man of action. He was involved and supported many charities. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Franklin is survived by his son Ryley, sister Vivian, brother-in law Joe, nieces Josellyne and Jeanne, nephew Julius and Octavia his adorable loving and loyal pit bull companion.
The family will gather for a visitation on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 1-2 PM in Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, Va.
A funeral service is scheduled for at a later time in Ascension Cemetery, Lake Forest, CA.
