Francesca Chiarello

Francesca Chiarello, loving wife, mother, nonna and bisnonna. She was born on October 5th 1932 in the small town of Bagheria in Sicily to the late Vincenzo and Maria Graniti.
In 1956, Francesca moved her entire life to Utica, New York. She married her late husband Giovanni Chiarello in 1961 and spent most of her time raising her two children. Frances had many passions including cooking, sewing and people. Her food and recipes were the staple of many family gatherings as well as the cakes and cookies she enjoyed baking for them. Frances enjoyed sewing and spent many years as a seamstress at Saymel`s Bridal helping brides from all over New York find and fix their gowns. Frances was a very social woman whose favorite pastime was sharing stories from her childhood. She enjoyed visiting her son’s restaurant each weekend and would spend time walking around, greeting everyone by name and sharing stories and recipes with those she loved. She was known by many throughout the community. Frances passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday May 27th, 2023 at the age of 90 surrounded by her loving family. Frances is survived by her children Sonny and Rita Chiarello, Vincent and Mirella, Granddaughters Francesca Italia, Francesca Anna and Mathew Eller, Mimma and Michael Catalini, great grandchildren Emma Eller and Lorenzo Catalini, nieces and nephews Teresa and Carl Deceaser, Jack and Lynn Graniti and brother Mimmo Graniti. A viewing will be held on Friday, June 2nd from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Amory Funeral Home.
