Frances H. Estes


Yorktown, Va. – Frances H. Estes, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
Frances was born in Danville, Virginia, and graduated from Dan River High School in 1950. She made her home in Yorktown beginning in 1962. Frances dedicated 26 years of service to York County Public Schools, where she retired as a school bus driver, a role she cherished and through which she touched many lives.
An avid bowler for more than 40 years, where she cherished her leagues and friendships she made along the way. Frances also enjoyed watching baseball, especially cheering for the Chicago Cubs. Nothing brought her greater joy than watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play. She was a devoted member of Beta Sigma Phi for 50 years, where she shared friendship, love, and fellowship. Frances was also a faithful member of Providence United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School in her earlier years and served her church family with devotion.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marvin Estes, and her grandson, Jeffrey.
Frances is survived by her children, Ricky Estes, Gale Pratt (Larry), and Charles Estes; her cherished grandchildren; and her great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News, Virginia.
