Evelyn Thomas Hartman

Evelyn Thomas Hartman, 83, of Yorktown, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2023.
Evelyn, born and raised in Newport News, VA, was the daughter of the late Archibald and Eva Thomas. She was a member of the Newport News High School Class of 1959 and received her nursing degree from Thomas Nelson Community College. She served as a registered nurse for over 30 years and provided devoted care to patients at Williamsburg Community Hospital and Home Care. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, Ocracoke Island and VT football games but her greatest passion was spending time with family, and she will be immensely missed.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, John D. T. “Pete” Hartman, Jr., also of Yorktown; son, Scott Hartman of Seaford; daughter, Amy (Mike) Newby of Hanover; daughter-in-law, Lynne Hartman of Poquoson; grandchildren, Hannah (Chris) Stansberry, Ethan Hartman, and Garret Newby; great-granddaughter, Saylor Stansberry; and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Cullen Newby; and her sisters, Elsie Hostetter, Ann Wicke, and Eleanor Pushcar.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, January 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion United Methodist Church, 2109 Seaford Road, Seaford, Virginia 23696. Reception and visitation will follow at the church.
