Eugene Sterling Moore, Jr.

Newport News, Va. – Eugene Sterling Moore Jr. passed away unexpectedly on May 13th, 2023 from natural causes. He is survived by his wife Nissa Moore, daughter Reesa Moore, father Eugene Moore Sr., sister Lisa Pankowski, brother in-law Stanley Pankowski, aunts Alice Craig and Sue Drees, nephews Kyle and Adam Pankowski, and niece Kaitlin Pankowski. He’s preceded in death by his mother Gloria Moore, uncle Jimmy Moore and Charles Dobbins, aunt Charlotte Grant, and grandparents Charles and Helen Dobbins, Christopher Moore and Maise Moore.
Gene was a native and lifelong peninsula resident. He graduated from Tabb High School in 1978 and went on to the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School and played football, baseball and tennis and graduated in 1985. He later went to work at Siemens and later work for Collins Machine and retired in 2019. He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church. Gene enjoyed UVA sports Football and Baseball rarely missed a game. He enjoyed shooting pool and an avid Redskins fan. But most of all was the love that he had for family and friends.
The family will gather in the cemetery at Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery on Dare Road on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 1:00 pm for a remembrance service honoring the life of Gene.
