Ethel Lee Lester


Yorktown, Va. – Ethel Lee Lester was born on March 3, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA and was raised by Edward Latney and Mary Agnes Paige-Latney.
On Tuesday, August 25, 2020, God called our beloved Ethel from labor to reward. She answered the Masters’ call quietly at Regency Health and Rehabilitation Center in Yorktown, Virginia.
Ethel was educated in the York County School System and graduated from York County Training School in 1941. She was employed by the New York Telephone Company and retired after many years of faithful service. After her retirement Ethel relocated back to Yorktown, Virginia. Once back home she enjoyed providing child care for children and doing domestic work.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Grafton Baptist Church – Harris Grove in Yorktown, Virginia. Ethel attended church regularly until her health declined. She enjoyed the Songs of Zion from the choirs and served with the Church Aide Ministry.
Ethel leaves to cherish her precious memories her companion of 32 years, George G. Walker; a host of cousins, relatives and caring friends.
The family will receive friend on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in Amory Funeral Home Grafton, VA. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, August 29, 2020 in Grafton Baptist Church Cemetery –Harris Grove. Arrangements by Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, VA.
