Elliott R. Winter, Jr.


Elliott R Winter, Jr, husband, brother, stepfather and friend, died October 12, 2023 at Riverside Walter Reed ICU, now at peace and pain free.
He was born on Long Island, NY June 29, 1958, but lived most of his 65 years in Virginia.
He was a man of many trades, a commercial waterman, owner and operator of Winter Firewood for many years, cut and baled hay, raised pigs and made sought after sausage and most recently employed as a Bridge Tender on the Coleman Bridge prior to retiring on disability.
Elliott worked and played hard. He found pleasure in helping others in any way he could. He enjoyed entertaining on a large scale which usually included crowds, loud music, BBQ and bonfires. He was happiest with a chainsaw in his hand, on his tractor or riding his Harley.
Elliott is survived by Charlene, his wife of 26 years, a stepdaughter Vicki Rowland (Jason Pena), his mother Pat Houston, sisters Debbie Nemeth and Cheryl Winter (Laura), brothers Ken Winter (Collett), and Greg Winter, along with several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Friday, October 20, 2023, at Amory Funeral Home, 410 Grafton Drive, Grafton, VA 23692 at 2:00PM followed by a gathering of friends and family at his home in Mathews.
