Douglas Aird Read, Jr.

Newport News, Va. – Douglas Aird Read, Jr., 72 passed away Friday, April 9, 2021. Doug was born in Newport News and was a lifelong Peninsula resident graduating from Hampton High School and Thomas Nelson Community College. He was a member of Monitor Masonic Lodge and retired as a guard for Newport News Shipbuilding. Doug was preceded in death by his parents Douglas and Dorothy Read and his sister Barbara Riddle. Doug is survived by his sister, Sheri Newcomb (Jerry), nephew Matthew Newcomb (Sarah) and nieces Michelle Rumschlag (Karl), Deborah Maddow (Shannon) and Sheila Fisher (Tom) and a host of great nieces and nephews. According to Doug wishes, the memorial service will be private. Arrangements are by Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, VA.
