Dennis Ward Ivey, Sr.

Dennis Ward Ivey, Sr., 75, passed away on Sunday March 5, 2023. Dennis was a native of New Jersey and peninsula resident since 1948. He was a retired Deputy Sheriff with York County Sheriff’s Office and was an avid motorcycle and vehicle enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his parents, JC and Grace Ivey and a brother, Frank Ivey. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Merle Sammons Ivey, his children Dennis Ivey, Jr., and his wife Karen, and Jodi Swindle and her husband Jay and grandchildren, Katey Rott (Greg), Kelly Ripley (Dan), Jackson Swindle and Samuel Swindle, great grandson Benjamin Rott. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Joan Bement Tokarz, and nieces and nephew, Cary Bement Kelly (Kevan) and Maxwell Kelly, Tracie Larkin (Mike) and cousins Dan Hall (Angela), Kinsey Hall and his NRC Biker Brothers.
Services will be private at a later date. Memorial in memory of Dennis may be made to The Salvation Army, Williamsburg. Arrangements are by Amory Funeral home, Grafton, Va.
