Daniel Eugene Johnson


Daniel Eugene Johnson, Yorktown. Dan, 102, passed away Tuesday, November 4th at 10:00.
Mr. Johnson was a native of Denver, Colorado but became a permanent resident of Virginia in 2002. He co-owned and operated with his wife, Eileen Johnson, an Electrical Company for 20 years in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Daniel was born June 8, 1923 in Denver Colorado. He encompasses the true meaning of being a volunteer. He dedicated his time to Arlington Memorial Hospital in Texas and upon moving to Virginia in 2002 volunteered at Riverside Medical Center for 20 Years. He also served on the Riverside Make a Difference Committee. He served with the Red Cross-Fire Response in Texas. He served in Hawaii with the Red Cross during the Hurricane Recovery. Dan also served with the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
He served in the US Army Air Corp during World War II. He loved the his country and was a dedicated Patriot. Sometimes he was very outspoken about that love.
However, first and foremost he was a devote Catholic. He lived everyday following his faith and love for Jesus and the Church. In his younger years he spent time helping at the church, offering his expertise on electrical concerns.
Dan was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a master storyteller. And he had many stories to share.
He is survived by his four children, daughter, Debra Gausmann (Richard), his son, Patrick Johnson, all of Yorktown. His daughter Kathryn Roam of Highlands Ranch Colorado. And his daughter Kristine Scheuer of Kentucky. Seven grandchildren Lisa, Scott, Cheryl, Diana, Carolyn , Monica, and Chandra. 22 Great Grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 am Tuesday, November 11th at Our Lady of Mount Carmel with Rev. Daniel Beeman is officiating. The family will receive friends one-half hour prior to the service in the church.
